Join our expert-led tours and uncover the secrets of this remarkable ancient city.
Nowhere in the world gives a deeper insight into Roman life than the dramatic seaside town of Pompeii and neighbouring Herculaneum. Before the cataclysmic eruption of Vesuvius, these were thriving, lively towns – Pompeii was a trading town equipped with many bars, shops and brothels, while nearby Herculaneum was an affluent, elegant area.
All this came to an abrupt halt in the autumn of AD 79, when Vesuvius – which had done little more than rumble for years – erupted with incredible force. Two thousand years later, the sites of the Bay of Naples confront the modern visitor with a vivid, haunting immediacy like nothing else in the ancient world.

This means you won’t have to choose one or the other or return home feeling as though you’ve missed out.
New Discoveries in Pompeii
The Black Room
Stunning frescos uncovered in new excavations at Pompeii are said to be among the finest found in the ruins of the ancient site. Mythical Greek figures such as Helen of Troy are depicted on high black walls of a large banqueting hall.
The Blue Room
Excavations in Pompeii have uncovered a remarkable room with blue wall, seldom seen in Pompeian ruins. It has been suggested, the room, discovered in the Insula 10 are of Regio IX, served as a sacrarium, a space dedicated to pagan rituals and the preservation of sacred objects.
The frescos depict female figures representing the four seasons, agriculture, shepherding. The figures are adorned with crowns of flowers, flowing garments.
